Jefferson, Colorado 1880
Formerly the railroad depot for the Denver South Park and Pacific Railway, The Jefferson Depot has stood at the gateway to the South Park Valley for nearly 150 years welcoming travelers to the breadth and beauty of western Colorado. Located at the base of Kenosha Pass on US 285, the distinct blue train depot building offers respite for travelers passing to and from Denver and towns located in Colorado's central mountains.
We are open year-round. On week-days, service is run out of the red building - the newly renovated, Boxcar (formerly the Hungry Moose Caboose). The Boxcar provides indoor ordering, cafe-style seating, and [in the near future] a small retail section - featuring healthful, high-end choices for snacks, juices, teas, and grab-n-go treats.
The 1880s Jefferson Train Depot (blue building) is home to our bar, The Moose Saloon, indoor dining, a restroom, televised entertainment, and free Wi-Fi. Friday through Sunday we offer full service ordering at the bar - place your food and beverage order and we will deliver your food to your table. Enjoy your visit in any of our several outdoor picnic spots, or choose an indoor table in the Depot's "Passenger Room", "Station Agent's Office" or wood-paneled Moose Saloon, formerly the "Cargo Room." We serve draft beer from our neighbor, South Park Brewing, as well as a tradition German Kölsch Bier, and bottled craft beers. A selection of Wine, Soda Pop, and sun-brewed Iced Tea round out our drink selections, all complimenting our menu.
In 2019, Frank Marinaro purchased the Depot with the dream of creating a place where hikers and anglers, photographers and commuters, passers-thru and lifelong residents can gather, eat, drink and relax in the midst of towering mountain vistas, sparkling rivers, and star-filled Colorado night skies.
